​Carriage Works Opening 

The day arrived!!! After years of planning, fundraising, and cleaning, Old Cowtown Museum has officially opened our new exhibit: The Wichita Carriage Works.

 Based off of the 1884 original business, our new exhibit tells the story of one of Wichita’s prominent businesses. Did you know…after her husband sustained a stroke, Mrs. McKenzie ran the business herself? 

Our new exhibit houses ten rolling stock pieces from our collection. They are now about to be shown and cared for in proper conditions. In addition, there is a back work room representing the wood and metal work all done in house by the Wichita Carriage Works company. 

Our grand opening this month was a great success. I want to express my personal thanks to staff, volunteers, board, donors, and city officials for the success of this wonderful project.
