Another important thing I like to do as curator is to visit other museum sites. It is always interesting to see how other institutions do things and what they emphasize. Everyone does things differently, and it is nice to be versed on area attractions and what keeps them going.
I have visited many museums during my time here at Cowtown. From small county museums to large state museums, each institution offers something worth exploring.
My most recent museum visit came at the end of September when I explored Boot Hill Museum in Dodge City, KS. According to their website, “The MISSION of Boot Hill Museum is to preserve and interpret the Old West through exhibits, education and entertainment reflective of the area’s rich heritage.”
I saw many wonderful things at Boot Hill Museum, but as a curator my attention is drawn to the collection. From clothing and guns to photographs and other exhibits, Boot Hill explores the history of Dodge City.
