2024 Temporary Exhibits
While most of our exhibits are permanent, each year I create a few
temporary exhibits located in the Empire Theater entrance. This year
has seen three temporary exhibits. These were: Ice and Roller Skating,
Staff Picks, and Winter Fur Clothing.
Set up in March, “Ice and Roller Skating” discussed each type of leisure
activity as it pertained to the Victorian Era. In our collection, we have
multiple examples of both ice and roller skates. These were featured
prominently in our exhibit.

The temporary exhibit “Staff Picks” displayed one item chosen by each
staff member and why it was important or significant to him/her. These
varied from a black smith hammer, mustache cup, book, and hair art.

Finally, the latest temporary exhibit is entitled “Winter Fur Clothing”.
We have many examples of fur clothing in our collection. Some of these
on display include bear fur gloves, a beaver skin top hat, and a stole
wrap.
Be on the lookout for a new temporary exhibit during your visit as they
change quarterly.
