Happy Birthday Cowtown Part 3
The rest of the 1960s was exciting as well. After the initial boom period during the state centennial, Cowtown continued to push foward.
Wichita area girl scouts were heavily involved with Cowtown. Under the leadership of Marge Kirby, the girl scouts acted as tour guides for visitors during the summer months. It's safe to stay, without the help of the girl scouts bringing life to early Cowtown, the museum may not have survived.

Cow Town added other buildings during the decade. A one-room school arrived in 1962 from 301 S. Meridian. We also added the General Store in 1965 from Garden Plain, KS. Pictured above, this structure arrived to Cowtown in three different pieces before being reassembled.
The Saloon and Turnverein Hall arrived from Derby in 1966. Pictured below, the saloon was originally named the Buckhorn Bar Saloon.
Finally, the Trapper's Cabin was moved to Cowtown in 1969 from the near Ninnescah River.
